Transformation and Metamorphosis Part II: God’s and Monsters

,

We know many stories about hell. Persephone lives half the year in the underworld. Osiris dies and is resurrected to help Isis bare her son Horus. Christianity tells us even Jesus descended into Hell following his death by crucifixion. Jean Paul Sartre, in his play No Exit, tells us “Hell is other people.” This Sunday, Rev. Justin McCreary will lead us in exploring these stories of descent into and assent out of darkness as guides to help us understand the world around us, the difficulties of transformation, and the trauma that comes with it.
