group photo of UUCJ youthThe YUUTH group is for middle/junior high and high schoolers who are grappling with the big questions of life as they “come of age”. The YUUTH group encourages deeper connection within the religious community and engagement in exploration of topics on the complexity of the world and our responsibility to be moral agents in it.

The YUUTH are encouraged to explore Unitarian Universalist ideas and beliefs and to articulate their own belief systems. The YUUTH are invited to participate in services, practicing the UU rituals of lighting the chalice, sharing joys and concerns, and meditation. Dedicated YUUTH activities are scheduled where teens can engage with stories, music, meditation, videos, games, dance, arts & crafts, and social justice activities.

YUUTH are eligible to become YUUTH members of the congregation upon completion of the Coming of Age process to more fully engage within the life of the church. The Coming of Age process is individually tailored to explore values and diverse religious traditions which culminates in developing a personal philosophy/theology/belief statement.
