RAMADAN: CHANGING OUR ATTENTION

This year, Ramadan is expected to begin at sundown on Sunday, March 10, and end at sundown on Tuesday, April 9. The final evening of Ramadan consists of a celebration called Eid al-Fitr, when the traditional month-long fast is ended with a feast.

While there are many aspects to Ramadan, our lens today focuses on how Ramadan calls Muslims to transform or change the focus of their attention, from everyday concerns to spiritual concerns, such as charity, empathy and Allah(God).

There is a gift and invitation in this for us UUs. We, too, can benefit from being more intentional about where we focus our attention. And by thoughtfully changing our attention, we have the power to transform our outlook on our own lives.
