Congregational Meetings
As Unitarian Universalists, we affirm and promote the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large.
In our congregation, major decisions, such as approving our bylaws or selecting minsters and leaders, are made by the congregation as a whole. All voting members are expected to attend.
UUCJ holds two biannual congregational meetings per year, one in the spring and another in the fall.
- During the Spring Biannual meeting (usually held in June), the congregation elects Board of Trustees officers and team, council, and taskforce members and considers any proposed Bylaws revisions.
- During the Fall Biannual meeting (usually held in December), the congregation adopts a proposed budget for the next fiscal year and votes on matters to be presented at the UUA General Assembly.
Special congregational meetings and town hall meetings are called as needed.
- Special Congregational Meetings may be called to conduct special business specified in the meeting notice.
- Town Hall Meetings may be called to discuss matters of interest to the congregation and to report on congregational activities.
Please check the events page to determine the time and location of congregational meetings.
