The Horizon Leans Forward

Tom Bombadil, a character created by JRR Tolkien, once said to an angry old willow tree, “Eat earth! Dig deep! Drink water! Go to sleep!” It might just be me, but I feel like I have slept too long, and it hasn’t been a good sleep. My long winter’s nap has been a time of sleep walking and nightmares. I wanted to scream, “I am no bear! I do not hibernate! I’d like to wake up!” yet the winter held me. Now, finally, I can’t help but anticipate my alarm clock, leaping up singing the immortal words of Bill Withers, “Just one look at you, and I know it’s gonna be a lovely day!”

Our monthly theme is, awakening, and if you feel, as I do, that you’ve been sleeping walking for two years, wake with me and sing. – Rev. Justin McCreary
