Join us for the 7th of our 9-session introductory course exploring Unitarian Universalist spirituality. Using the song “Spirit of Life” as a guide, each session focuses on a different aspect of spiritual life. In this session, “Roost Hold Me Close,” we explore how our roots, heritage, and traditions foster our spirituality and remember all of the role models, teacher, and mentors who have influenced us.

I often start these synopses in left field–far away from where my sermon will end–but this time I’ll tell you where my sermon will end: We are part of an interdependent web of all being. This is the 7th principle of our bond to the Unitarian Universalist Association and part of our covenant at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jackson. Oh, I will talk about mix tapes, how different we are, and how important it is to be ourselves, but with that comes balance. We love our independence and our community, and we live where those two intersect.

11:00 a.m. – Religious Exploration:

  • Chalice Children (ages 5-8): World of Wonder – The Chalice Children will explore our Unitarian Universalist 7th Principle instilling respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part and appreciation for its beauty, excitement, and mystery.
  • U.U. Kids (ages 9-14): World Travels – The U.U. Kids are taking “trips” around the world to explore the concerns and activities of children in diverse cultural settings through stories, art, and games.
  • YUUth (ages 15-17): The YUUth will attend the adult service.

All friends and guests–and members, too–are welcome to participate in an introductory two session class on Unitarian Universalism. We will discuss how UUs do religious education, social justice, and membership. Attendance for these classes are recommended for individuals seeking membership.
