Broken Mirrors

I don’t know what I look like. I can look at pictures or stare into a mirror for hours, and still I will never know. In fact what I think I look like is a distortion of what I actually look like. Even though I know that, I will still make many of decisions based on what I think I look like. The main decision I will make is how I feel about myself. It should not be a surprise that societal beauty standards for both women and men are often driven by our own internalized fears and biases. As a people we need to reconsider our standards, and that starts with our standards regarding ourselves and the way we use our mirrors.
