As Unitarian Universalists, we affirm and promote the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large.

In our congregation, major decisions, such as approving our bylaws or selecting minsters and leaders, are made by the congregation as a whole. Our Board of Trustees make many of the operational decisions and set policies. Our Ministry Council, led by the Minister and President-Elect with representatives of each of the Ministry Teams, make all of the programmatic and ministry decisions.

Congregational Meetings

These meetings are scheduled twice a year, in June and December. In the June, the congregation elects leaders and considers any proposed Bylaws revisions. In December, the congregation approves an annual budget and consider matters to be presented at the UUA General Assembly. The congregation may also have town hall meetings to provide updates and discussion or special meetings to discuss a specific matters of interest. All voting members are expected to attend.

Board Meetings

These meetings are scheduled monthly with an annual retreat in the summer after new members are elected. The Board is responsible for setting policies, approving contracts, managing financial resources, and planning for the congregation’s future. These meetings are open to all members.

Ministry Council Meetings

These meetings are scheduled four times a year, in January, April, July, and October. The Ministry Council is a coming together of the four Ministry Teams with the Board President-Elect and the Minister to plan the ministries, such as outreach, worship, and social justice, for the coming year. These meetings are open to all members and friends. All are welcome to participate!
