9:30 a.m. — Adult RE: What We Choose: Ethics for Unitarian Universalists – Session 7: Relational Ethics

This is the seventh of a ten-session intermediary course designed for UUs seeking to follow a faith of deeds, not creeds, by focusing on the moral and ethical questions that arise in life and explore ethical frameworks to help sort through a dilemma. In this session, we will examine a framework that speaks to our relationships with one another and how those relationships influence our decisions.

10:30 a.m. — Coffee Fellowship: Hospitality Team

metamorphosis11:00 a.m. – Service: The Wonderful World of Metamorphoses, led by Jim Becker

I’m fully aware that moving our church to a new location is not a mutation but a metamorphosis. Becoming something more beautiful than we already are is extremely possible, although getting there will be like the Israelites during the great Exodus: forty years of wandering in the desert. How wonderful yet scary is this? Now, knowing UU Church of Jackson, we are diligently working on our plan: knowing that we are not perfect yet we are metamorphosing.

11:00 a.m. – Religious Exploration:

  • Chalice Children (ages 3-6): Love Surrounds Us: Our Search – The Chalice Children will learn about our principles and their root in love. This Sunday they will learn about our fifth principle: All People Need A Voice!
  • U.U. Kids (ages 7-12): UU Identity – The UU Kids are exploring the people, ideas, and events that have shaped Unitarian Universalism. This Sunday they will learn about Joseph Priestley, a Unitarian scientist who started the first Unitarian church in America and do some scientific experiments.
  • YUUth (ages 13-17): Merchants of Doubt – The YUUth will watch and discuss the documentary Merchants of Doubt examining pundits-for-hire who pass themselves off as scientific authorities on topics such as toxic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and climate change.
