Spiritual Practice in Times of Crisis

If I were to ask what images come to mind when you think of spiritual practice, you might mention monks sitting alone on top of a mountain, focused yogis doing poses at sunrise on a green field, or the pious person kneeling in prayer with folded hands. These are all completely acceptable forms of spiritual practice; however, they may not be for everyone. In fact, the level of expectation that comes with this kind of spiritual practice can often do more to cause stress and anxiety than it relieves, driving people from not toward self-care. This Sunday I would like to reflect on spiritual practice from a perspective that reduced expectations making spirituality in times of crisis feel out of reach.
