YUUth (ages 15-17) Lead Teacher: Jason Griggs
The YUUth class helps teens “coming of age” as they grapple with the big questions of life and begin to articulate their own belief systems. The YUUth begin in the adult service, where they participate with adults in religious community, and then leave for an age-appropriate exploration of topics on the complexity of the world and our responsibility to be moral agents in it.
- The YUUth are currently studying the orginial series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage narrated by Carl Sagan exploring a wide range of scientific subjects, including the origin of life and a perspective on our place in the universe.
- Previous curricula have included the new series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, Merchants of Doubt, a documentary examining “scientific authorities” speaking about toxic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and climate change on the behalf of industries, and a study of ethical behavior and spiritual traditions from around the world.
