August 30: Turbulence

9:30 a.m.  Forum – Film, “Merchants of Doubt” facilitated by Paul Gore

11:00 a.m. Service – Turbulence, Arrogance, and Community – Hurricanes that Have Shaped My Life with Ann Maclaine
“The service will focus on themes from Katrina and other storms, including racism, the arrogance of humans’ efforts to master nature, and community restoration and healing. Because general and personal experiences of Katrina are extremely difficult for some to discuss/hear about, even after ten years, we will not be focusing on these, but will understand if the general topic is too painful for some to attend. We will light a candle for those who are absent and still hurting.”

July CUUPS Meeting: Acts of Will, Love and Power

The next meeting of the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPs) will explore our beliefs by sharing short (under 5 minutes) personal rituals, devotionals, or practices. The meeting will take place July 5 in the UUCJ sanctuary, beginning promptly at 12:30 p.m.

For this event, as what we are sharing is deeply personal, I would like to ask that we respect the people and rituals involved by observing silence between each participant. We will have no order; just an organic flow of people until we run out of participants. We can ask questions and socialize afterward! I’m looking forward to witnessing what each of you bring to the devotional.
–No weapons, ritual gear included.
–If you are participating and choose to invoke, please take care to devote/say farewell so that we are stewards of our own practice. (Pack it in, pack it out!)
–Remember you will have at most five minutes: please don’t make anyone have to break out a stopwatch.
