The Reverend Jim Becker (Snowdancer)

Reverend Jim Becker goes by the name of Snowdancer. Personal pronouns are fae/faer. In December 2023, the congregation voted to accept Snowdancer as their next minister and a contract was signed for ministerial services.

Snowdancer brings a long faerstory to this role. Fae studied for ministry in Los Angeles at Samaritan Seminary with the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC) from 1980-1984. Fae was licensed to practice in 1984 and, for 15 years served congregations in West Hollywood and Los Angeles, CA; Birmingham, AL; Jackson and Biloxi, MS. For seven years in Los Angeles, fae led a Christian outreach to gay inmates in the Los Angeles County Jail. Over those years, it is estimated that over 7,000 individual souls were reached with an inclusive message of love and acceptance, combating the lies keeping them slaves to Christian oppression. In conjunction with that prison ministry, fae led a street ministry to transexual (as they were known then) prostitutes in Downtown Los Angeles. During the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis in Los Angeles, fae ministered to a very anonymous group of gay men in the film industry. In addition, fae became known countrywide as a pastor who would marry truckers as they met up in the Los Angeles area.

In 1990, fae accepted a pulpit in The Deep South. Fae was ordained by UFMCC in 1992 in Jackson MS, which was the first large public gathering to ordain a gay minister in Mississippi.

In the early 1990s, fae became the founding pastor of Safe Harbor Family Church (now affiliated with the United Church of Christ). Upon leaving that post, fae was given the honorary title of Pastor Emeritus.

Snowdancer retired from Christian ministry in the mid-90s and began his tenure as a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jackson (UUJXN). Since then, fae has held almost every leadership position in the church.

In addition to service within Unitarian Universalism, Snowdancer is a Priestx with Stone Circle Tradition of Wicca USA.

Before ministry, Snowdancer was a professional musician and holds degrees in low brass performance. In September 2023, Snowdancer finally married his partner of 34 years, Freeman (AKA Fre).
