NUUSLETTER

A Newsletter for our Members and Friends

August 2006 - Web Edition

Love is the spirit of this church, and service is our law.

To dwell together in peace, to seek the truth in love, and to help one another.

This is our covenant

WORSHIP SCHEDULE

Every Sunday Forum at 9:30am, Service at 11:00am

August 6

Forum: "Jester's Hat."  Steve Bollinger will facilitate this forum where topics are drawn from--you guessed it--a great, colorful "jester's hat".

Service:  "Children's Advocacy."   Wendy Shenefelt will be our speaker.  Tom Head, coordinator.

August 13

Forum:  "LGBT Issues."  Knol Aust will provide information and field questions in the issues faced by Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Transgendered persons.

Service: "American Indian Creation Stories," presented by Waverly Liles.

POTLUCK lunch will follow services.

August 20

Forum:  "Crumpets & Coffee."  Let's enjoy the time to visit--the kind that usually takes place in the kitchen...before forum...for the hour.  Taste the Fair Trade coffees and teas.  Bring your favorite homemade goodies and bakery items and be ready to share your recipe (or where you shopped).

Service:  "Gathering of the Waters."  The Reverend Jacqueline Luck will be in the pulpit.  Join us for a ritualized pouring of waters into a communal bowl celebrating the gathering of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jackson's Beloved Community. UUCJ's children will join us, and there's rumor of a play!

August 27

Forum:  "Speaking of Faith."  The public radio telecast of this program begins at 9 am. Arrive early to begin hearing the day's presentation or listen in your car as you travel to the church.  The telecast ends at 10 am and we'll have half an hour to respond amongst ourselves.  The interviewer, Krista Tippett, draws her guests near to us with a very 'listen-able' skill.  Join us.

Service:  "On the Shady Side of the Street."  The Reverend Jacqueline Luck.  As UUCJ's Board of Trustees President, Waverly Liles, observed: When in Mississippi in July it's best to be on the shady side of the street!   Some thoughts will be shared about being in the shade, and not.

Deadline for submissions to the Setptember UUCJ NUUSletter: August 18.  Please make submissions to Susan Voisin at NUUSletter@uujackson.org.

If you would like to receive the NUUsletter by email, please user our NUUS subscription form.
